I grew up in Huntsville, an unincorporated community with a Yadkinville, NC address. The area is largely rural but within close proximity to Winston-Salem and the smaller towns of Lewisville and Clemmons.
After high school, I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) for three years and majored in English. I transferred to High Point University (HPU) for my senior year and completed a BA in English Writing. During my college years, I worked at various places on campus: The Writing Center at UNCG, Smith Library and The Campus Chronicle at HPU, and some jobs that didn’t pay monetarily.
Following college, I picked, sorted, and sold strawberries and edited documents for the federal government in Northern Virginia. I’m currently working on a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate at UNCG and hope to gain my M.Ed.
I have many hobbies, including beekeeping, reading, writing, and web design. I have written articles for The American Bee Journal and Hobby Farms Magazine, and I currently maintain The Forsyth County Beekeepers Association and West Bend Lodge 434’s websites.
